Do I Need a Notary Stamp in Iowa?
Iowa Notary Stamps – Yes! Required
According to Iowa Code ยง 9E.6A, an appointed notary public must have an official seal for certification of all notarial acts. Do so with either a stamp or embosser. Use personal preference in combination with best judgement as ink color, shape, and dimensions are left unspecified in state statute. Be aware other states you plan to do business in may have such requirements defined.
Your official Iowa Notary Public Seal will include at minimum your name and the words “Notarial Seal”, ” “Iowa”, “Commission Number [+ Numerical Commission Number]” and either “My Commission Expires [+ Expiration Date]” or “My Commission Expires [Blank]”. This portion can be left blank and filled in by hand at the time of seal application if the notary so chooses. Custom can sometimes include an image of the Iowa State Capitol Building. Again, doing so is a matter of personal choice. Contact an appropriate vendor.
