Do I Need a Louisiana Notary Stamp?
Louisiana Notary Stamps – No! Unrequired
According to the Louisiana Secretary of State, a notary’s signature is his seal. Notaries are thus NOT required to hold in their possession an embossing seal or stamp. However, you may choose to purchase either. If doing business in a separate state, getting an embosser or stamp can be the prudent decision. Our corresponding guides have requirements specific for each state.
Use personal preference in combination with best judgement when deciding on seal design, ink color, shape, and dimensions. What information to include is up to custom since left undefined in the state statutes. Louisiana seals and stamps often include commission number, county, and an image of a Pelican in addition to your name and the words “Notary Public”. Contact an appropriate vendor for any custom needs.
