Do I Need a Maine Notary Stamp?
Maine Notary Stamps – No! Unrequired
According to Me. Rev. Stat. tit. 4, § 951, a notary does NOT need to keep an official seal of office, but IS governed by certain guidelines if choosing to do so. Purchasing a stamp or seal embosser is the prudent choice recommended by the Secretary of State for all documents leaving the state.
Choose either an inked stamp or seal embosser. Use personal preference in combination with best judgement as regards design, ink color, shape, and dimensions. At minimum, you will need to include your name exactly as it appears when signed, the words “Notary Public”, and then “Maine”, “ME”, or the Great Seal of the State of Maine. Additional information such as expiration date may be included also. Contact an appropriate vendor for supplies solutions.
