Do I Need a Notary Stamp in Ohio?
Ohio Notary Stamps – Yes! Required
According to Ohio Rev. Code Ann. ยง 147.04, a notary public is required to purchase a seal before beginning his or her duties. You may do so using either an inked stamp or seal embosser.
There are no requirements regarding the ink color, shape, and dimensions of the chosen implement. Be aware other states may have such requirements specified by statute. Reference a corresponding guide if you plan to do business outside Ohio. Choose a circular or rectangular model including the below required information.
The official Ohio notary public’s seal embosser or inked stamp will include your name, the words “Notary Public”, “State of Ohio, “Notarial Seal” (or similar), and the coat of arms of Ohio within a circle 1-inch in diameter. You do have an option of creating a seal without a name, and then separately printing or stamping it near the signature on each signed document.
Depending on the model chose, manufactures may have trouble fitting the coat of arms in its required dimensions along with the notarial information required by Ohio. Make sure it will be before confirming your order. Contact an appropriate vendor.
