Do I Need a Notary Stamp in Tennessee?

Tennessee Notary Stamps – Yes! Required
Tenn. Code Ann. ยง 8-16-114 demands notaries keep a seal of office conforming to the designs and proscriptions offered by the Secretary of State. Your seal of office should be an inked stamp. Tennessee only accepts circular stamp models.
Be aware requirements can differ in other states. The imprint created by your stamp can be in any color other than black or yellow, as long as it will appear as black when photocopied on a non-color copier. Choosing blue ink is a good choice in Tennessee.
The Secretary of State recommends a notary’s seal to include the name (as it appears on the commission) at top, the county of election printed at the bottom, and the words “State of Tennessee Notary Public” or “Tennessee Notary Public” printed in the center. Effective on July 1, 2019, electronic notarizations will be deemed acceptable without having to conform to Tennessee’s guidelines regarding ink color if the information above is included on the document in a reproducible manner. No electronic image of a stamp will be necessary. Contact an appropriate vendor for supplies.
